The rock icon, David Bowie died , after 18 months battle with liver cancer. As it has been reported by some media outlets.

Wendy Leigh, who published a biography of Bowie last year, told BBC News, “He didn’t just battle cancer…he had six heart attacks in recent years. I got this from somebody very close to him.”

The artist released his 25th album, called Blackstar, 2 days before his peacefully death. The album was released on his 69th birthday and celebrated with launch party in Berlin.

Bowie’s producer Tony Visconti wrote on facebook, ”He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life – a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn’t, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.”

The artist with his incredible canon of music made his final public appearance last month at the opening night of Lazarus in New York. The artist cowrote the musical, based on The Man Who Fell to Earth (Bowie starred in the 1976 film).
