Yolanda Hadid Talks about Her Children, “They Learn to Take Charge and Be My Strength.”

    The 52-years-old, Yolanda Hadid, talks about her struggle with her illness, Lyme Disease, in the episode of The Dr. Oz Show that will air on Tuesday. The Real Housewife of Beverly Hills’ star that grew up without father shares how some problems can shape somebody character, just like her illness and struggle has made her children grow up faster.

    Hadid, a mother of Gigi, 20, Bella, 19, and Anwar, 16, says, “There were nights where Gigi, at three o’clock in the morning, had to drive me to the emergency room because I had such severe inflammation in my brain that I’d be balling on the floor like please take me to the hospital,” Hadid says in a preview clip. “So you know, and not just Gigi driving, Anwar and Bella in the back of the car and the three of us going to the hospital. And, them being there, they learn to take charge and be my strength.”

    Hadid, who recently change her last name from Foster in the midst of divorce with ex David Foster, also told the show, how her children gave her hope and strength through her most difficult time.

    “My children is what kept me alive. I remember just waiting for them to get out of school, just to give them a hug and look at them for hope,” says Hadid. “There were many days that I really didn’t want to live anymore. But when you look at your children it’s not a choice anymore, right? You have to. You have to get through. You have to keep fighting and searching to get well.”


    In 2012, Hadid was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. She revealed in January 2015 that, as a consequence of the illness, she had “lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV”. The reality star revealed in October last year, that daughter Bella and son Anwar also struggle with Lyme disease.

    “When my two youngest children, Bella and Anwar, were diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in early 2012, watching my babies struggle in silence in order to support me in my journey struck the deepest core of hopelessness inside of me.”
