Left behind by person we loved, have never been easy for anyone. Tom Cruise feels the same after the lost of his mother, Mary Lee South.

Tom Cruise Mum died peacefully in her sleep last week, after coping some health issue for the recent years. She was given a memorial service at Church of Scientology this weekend according to People.

Mary Lee South Pfeiffer, from the Louisville, Kentucky, was a special education teacher, when she was married to Tom Cruise’s father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III, an electrical engineer. And ended the marriage in 1974.

The family lived in Syracuse, New York, where Tom Cruise was born and Ottawa, Canada. Tom Cruise mother had a big role in inspiring his acting career.

“I know that she is just obviously very proud, and kind of I guess, just amazed, you know, because you talk about something, you dream about something, and she knows I used to work jobs so I could make money and I could go to the movies,” he recalled. “I would make movies one day, and for it to happen, and on the level that it is happening … I know she just is really proud.”

In interview with Rolling Stone, Mary Lee South mention her deep passion of acting in 1986, “I was always interested in theater, but I never did anything with it.”

Together with her second husband, Jack South, they supported Cruise in his acting career in full time.

“We both wholeheartedly agreed, because we both felt it was a God-given talent, and he should explore it because he was so enthused about it,” she recalled to the magazine. “So to make a long story short, we gave him our blessing – and the rest is history.”

Tom Cruise had a close relationship as he become a box-office star.

Mary Lee South died at the age 80-years-old, the 54-years-old actor, Tom Cruise and his sisters, Lee Ann DeVette, 57-years-old and Cass Mapother, 55-years-old and Marian Henry, 52-years-old, all attended the memorial along with other family and friends.
