Melissa Rycroft, The Bachelor star and Dancing With the Stars winner tied the knot with her fiance, insurance agent, Tye Strickland, in Mexico. On December 12, in a sunset ceremony on the beach in Isla Mujeres, they’re say the word ‘I do’, it’s a dream comes true for the happy bride and groom.
Rycroft, 26, wore a strapless Alfred Angelo satin gown, and looks very much stunning as she walked down the aisle. And nearly 200 guest which are family and close friend, witnessed the beautiful wedding ceremony, including Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski who engaged last May on the finale season of The Bachelor and living together in Chicago.
“I was fine, until Here Comes the Bride started,” says the blushing new bride. “I think everything hit me at once. My dad started to walk down the aisle and I just stopped him. I grabbed his arm, and I was like, ‘Hold on,’ and I started crying. And I saw Tye, and bless his heart, he had these big tears in his eyes too. It was very emotional. I locked eyes on him, and I didn’t take them off until the ceremony was over.”
The couple, who met three years ago in their hometown Dallas, got engaged in June, less than four months after Rycroft was jilted on national television by “Bachelor” star Jason Mesnick.
“I’m really happy for her,” Mesnick, who has engaged with Molly Malaney last October in New Zealand, told People. “This whole journey took her to a place where things looked like they were down for her. But then she ended up with the person she was meant to be with. That’s what life’s all about. I couldn’t be happier for her.”
The wedding plan seemed just as they wish it. Last summer Rycroft and Strickland planned for the big day and said, “We want to have it be as fun and relaxing as possible for our families, I just want it to be fun and a day everyone will remember. Tye is my true love.”
