Wife of England football Wayne Rooney, the 23-year-old wrote in her OK! magazine column: ‘It’s the most brilliant news and, along with marrying Wayne, the best thing that’s ever happened to me.
‘Wayne is over the moon and so excited and I just know he’ll be a great dad.
‘It’s something we both wanted and we feel incredibly lucky and happy.’
Just 10 months after their luxurious wedding in Italy, the couple announce they expecting a baby in October. Coleen said she isn’t bothered about the sex of the baby, as long as it is ‘healthy and grows up happy’.
At only three months gone, Coleen says she isn’t taking things easy just yet and is busy filming a new series of her ITV2 show Coleen’s Real Women.
Coleen finally confirmed the pregnancy after a week of speculation.
Attending the Grand National racing at Aintree over the weekend, the press attention was focused on Coleen as they tried to make out her tiny baby bump.
The childhood sweethearts’ pregnancy news comes just weeks after she admitted they wanted a big family.
Manchester United striker Wayne, who is the eldest of three children, has said he wants three or four.
When the baby is born, Coleen said she intends to give up work to become a full-time mother.
While many women can’t afford to be stay at home mums, with an estimated £35million fortune between her and her husband, Coleen can afford to devote herself full-time to her children.
She said: ‘TV is time-consuming and a commitment and I’m a real homebird.
‘I don’t like to be away from Wayne and my family too much. I’m not mega ambitious.
‘I would like to have a family – maybe three or four children and I would be happy to be a full-time mum. I do enjoy my work but I’d be happy when we do have children to just get on with that.’
As well as presenting her TV show, Coleen also has her own perfume, a new Argos jewellery range and writes a weekly column in OK! magazine.
