Far away from public memorial for her ex husband, Michael Jackson, Debbie Rowe spent her day at her ranch in Palmdale, CA, July 7.

In a never aired interview from 2003, Debbie dishes on why she had the King of Pop’s children.

The two first became close after Michael’s failed marriage to Lisa Marie Presley,  which apparently left the pop star crumbled. “I was trying to console him, because he was really upset,” she says. “He was upset because he really wanted to be a dad. I said, ‘So be a dad.’ He looked at me puzzled. That is when I looked at him and said: ‘Let me do this. I want to do this. You have been so good to me. You are such a great friend. Please let me do this. You need to be a dad, and I want you to be.’”

She adds: “I believe there are people who should be parents, and he’s one of them. And he is such a fabulous man, and such a good friend, and he’s always been there for me, always, from the day I met him.”

Their first child, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., was apparently gift that Debbie wanted to give her then husband. “We were very excited,” she says. “Michael was definitely more excited than I was. He was so excited when we had a contraction, and he was there. We had videos and music. But he was there the whole time. Held my hand, stroked my head.”

Debbie adds: “I didn’t do it to be a mother. I didn’t change diapers. I didn’t get up in the middle of the night, even when I was there, Michael did it all.”

While watching her daughter Paris’ emotional speech on the televised memorial tribute to Michael Jackson, Debbie Rowe was breaking down into tears, friends of Rowe comforted her as she wipe her eyes.

“Debbie was distraught, she couldn’t stop crying. We could even hear her crying from where we were. Her friends were hugging her but for a few minutes she couldn’t even control herself. You could see she was really in pain,” said one of an X17online photographer.

Rowe also denied she plans to seek custody of the two children she gave birth to when married to Michael Jackson.
