Having a premature labor it’s kind of scary for both mom and dad, mostly what they scared about is about the baby’s health and then mom. Dustin Pedroia, the American League Most Valuable Players, missed last Monday’s game against the Oakland A’s to be by wife Kelli’s side after she began laboring at seven months pregnant.

“It seems like everything’s OK,” Pedroia told the concerned media. “I had to be there last night, obviously. It’s been tough. But she’ll be all right. She’s good. She’s a lot more together than I am, I can tell you that.”

Since it’s their first child and have to faced the premature condition, well, he’s a tough one for a daddy and husband to watch and see his beloved one struggling without anything he can do. I think his present and his support has filled all conditions.

“I didn’t really know what to do. I’m learning on the fly. It kind of happened real fast. I’m just glad she’s OK and the baby seems to be OK so we’ll wait and see. She’s probably going to be in there a while, but we’ll get through it.”

“They’re giving her all this medicine, they gave her some shots to help the baby out so we’re trying to keep him in there for as long as possible,” Pedroia said. “He probably wants a Red Bull or something.”

“He needed to be with Kelli, and she needed him,” said Terry Francona, the Red Sox manager. “He needed to not be here last night. When I was born, my dad didn’t get to see me for a couple of weeks. That’s just the way it was. I missed one of ours being born. My wife is still mad at me. I was playing for Cincinnati and I told [manager] Pete Rose and he said, ‘We have a day off, go tomorrow.’ It wasn’t like I was hitting .340. My daughter still talks about it, but at the time, it really wasn’t a decision.”

“My wife told me to come back here and play the game so I came back here,” Pedroia added. “I kind of do what I’m told. Tito said ‘hey, you’ve got to get out of here, man. You have to take care of your family.’ I headed back there and stayed the night. It’s good I’m small. I slept in some little bed in there. Hopefully she’ll be all right.”

Wow, Mr. Pedroia has a very support working friends. It’s so good for him and family, congratulations.
