Looking Elijah Wood reminds me the great trilogy movie, The Lord of The Ring. His act as Frodo Baggins with innocents face whose accept a sense of great responsibility had bring the meaning of fight for live, friendship and family to me.
Even he has been starting the movie career at such young age, his life is far from gossip and tabloids.
“I got great guidance from parents and a lot of help from my brother and sister. That kept me grounded and away from the bad side of Hollywood. I used to get an allowance of $10 a week, but my parents gave it to me bi-monthly so I’d get $80 at a time and it seemed like more. That gives you a little perspective.”
Not complaining about ‘working’ at 8 years old, he was never felt “being robbed of his youth or robbed of innocent”. But he has his own thinking about this,
“I felt like I was gaining experiences and sort of growing in a really good way as a result of it.”
Back to the Future II as his first movie, and continues with others movie, had a chance to work with several great actors and actress, such Richard Gere, Mel Gibson, Melanie Griffith, Jamie Lee Curtis, etc, and it’s normal for him.
“I always felt older than I was and I think a lot of that had to do with the fact that I had to be professional. I worked with adults and I had responsibilities that most kids at that age didn’t have.”
Seeing him growing up so fast from the movie he was in, make me feel older than I am. And he got the same strange feelings about those comments.
“People keep telling me they’ve watched me grow up on film, but I never really noticed it myself. It feels kind of strange to think that people are that aware of my growth because it’s happened on the screen. If I had my way, I would have just skipped the whole teenager thing and gone right from kid to adult.”
It is so nice to read these interview, just like sitting outside on terrace with a Javanese coffee in your favourite cup. Watching a star’s growing up in right way with the right guidance of his family.
