    Michael_Douglas_FamilyI have learn to take the best I can for my life and to my dearest family, because I don’t want to regret it or say ‘if only’ to something that can not be undo. And some lucky people can have another chance to fix anything he wants to fix in his life or his family.

    Michael Douglas, 65, took the chance to let his son, Cameron, 31, to be in jail for five years, he said yesterday that jail might have saved the life of his son.

    “My son has not been sober for this length of time since he was 13 years old. He was going to be dead, or somebody was going to kill him,” he said on NBC’s Today show.

    Douglas was speaking about his drug dealing son after a month Cameron Douglas being sentenced for heroin possession and dealing with crystal meth, he called the sentencing adequate and took some of blame for his addiction.

    “My son was a drug dealer, and he tried to kill himself for a while, and I can’t condone his behaviour. With all the mistakes and the disease that Cameron has, he is a great young man and I wouldn’t be supporting him if I didn’t feel that way.”

    As any dad, the star of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps blame himself as a father, for his absence as Cameron was growing up.
    “I’ve taken blame about being a bad father — if being a bad father is working your butt off trying to create a career at one time,” Douglas said. “I’ve also confessed the fact that I was in rehab 20 years ago.”

    Same as Diandra Luker, his ex-wife, who sent a letter to the sentencing judge for “distant and problematic” parents to Cameron. Douglas pointed out, he said that Diandra was a “very young mother when she had Cameron, and her skills were limited to such an extent.”

    Not forget to mention there’s genes on their family, whom dealing with drugs and alcoholism.

    “In Cameron’s position, he took a lot of lowlifes, and he was a very attractive target to hang out with, and I don’t think that helped, either,” the Oscar winner said.

    But these days Douglas, who has two children, Dylan, 9, and Carys, 7, with his current wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, says his family life is much more settled. “My priorities have completely changed,” says the actor. “My marriage and my families come certainly before my career.”

    And for Cameron Douglas, he was sorry for what he’d done and apologize to his family to put them in this low and “nightmare situation.” And he took another chance to living his life in better way. He was telling in court out he’s being sober for the first time in his adult life and stating;

    “Firstly, I would like to apologize to my family and my loved ones for putting them through this nightmare of my making – and for my behaviors that have caused a rift between us in the past,” he told the Judge.

    “But I would like to ask you for an opportunity to be a productive family member and a good role model to my brothers and sisters… Nothing, Your Honour, is more important to me than my family and the goals that I have set for myself, and I feel adamant that I will not let myself be led astray by my warped thinking and false pretences due to my long heroin addiction.”

    Sometimes there’s ‘a blessing in disguise’ to obstacle we’re facing, I think Douglas family is closer than ever in this situation, I hope it’s continue for the best.
