She is wiser and dedicated mother to her eight years old daughter, Sy’rai Iman Smith. And Brandy, 31 years old singer who’s ready to business wants to be closed with her daughter, and being a friend to Sy’rai is the parenting type for her to her only daughter with Robert Smith.

It is not a common things to do in parenting to every mom, on Parade she’s aware,
“A lot of mothers feel like they’re the mom first, with that authority. But for me, I’m a friend first. I believe that just being there for my daughter as a friend more than ‘I’m in charge…’ causes her to be more open with me as a person. That’s just what our relationship is.

Still there’s a time to discipline, she’s aware the way to tell right things, but with love.
“Of course, there are times when I have to discipline her — I’m mom. But there’s still that nurturing and love there that we have.

The parenting style she applies to her daughter had no sudden success, but the results comes at the end.
“I know I’ll probably get flack for being a friend first, but it really works. She’s really honest with me. I’m just teaching her how to trust herself. I tell her all the time that my life is not your life — you have your own life.”

When she’s been asked if Sy’rai would get into entertainment business, the Grammy award winning says,
“If that was something that she really wanted to do — like the way I was passionate about it when I was her age — then of course I would support her completely. But if it were my choice, I’d keep her out of it as long as I could.”

Keeping her daughter to have a normal life as possible, and let her to enjoy her childhood as a child, and when its time for her to find out the world at right age. Sy’rai is never featured on the show since “her father and I felt it was best for her to have as much of a normal life as possible.”

“You didn’t see her going to school, me combing her hair, or any aspect of our private, intimate moments, which sort of sucks because our relationship is so beautiful.”

Motherhood has touched her gently and loving.
I love being a mom and I’m raising her in a different way than how I was raised. Some things that my mom did with me, I do with my daughter — it’s just a different dynamic. I would love for people to see how I’m doing it because I think I could be a good example of a young, single mom.”

On A Family Business her show with her brother, Ray J along with their parents, Brandy’s mom seems strict and aggressive, Brandy explains that “what you see is what you get with my mom.”

Brandy knows now and capable to explain the feeling of a mother to her children, and every mom express their love in her own way.
“But she loves her children and she’ll do anything for us. It’s been difficult for her to let go and let us take the lead. She is aggressive and strong, but I think she’s a great example of a mom who is about her business and loves her kids unconditionally.”

How about romance in Brandy’s life? Is there possibility for her to join a dating rarity show? She answers wisely about love (which I like),

“No! I will not do a reality show about finding love; you can’t find love, love finds you. What I’m looking for in a guy is myself — the qualities that I find in myself are what I’m looking for in my soul mate. I want a guy who is loyal, honest and big on communication. I’m also really big on romance. I want to be able to receive what I give. It’s all about giving and receiving.”
