Finally Sir Paul McCartney married Nancy Shevell at London’s Marylebone Register Office on October 9, 2011 and witnessed by his former Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr.
The couple had a simple ceremony at the Westminster Registry Office before a ‘simple’ party at McCartney’s home in North London and attended by 120 guests.
The 69-years-old star sang ‘Let It Be‘, ‘Let Me Roll It‘,and new song he wrote for his “soulmate”, which brought tears to the groom’s eyes.
The newlyweds were cheered by hundreds of well-wishers, and Paul said, “I feel absolutely wonderful. I feel terrific. I feel married,” while clutched the 51-years-old heiress’ hand.
Paul choose the wedding date because it would have been the 71st birthday of the late ex-Beatles singer John Lennon, who was shot dead in New York in 1980.
Paul’s daughter Stella McCartney designed the fashion seen at the wedding including the bridal gown, her father’s suit and the bridesmaids dresses (Beatrice, 7, McCartney’s daughter), as well as her own dress.
Today, October 10, 2011, Paul McCartney and his new wife, Nancy Shevell were spotted leaving their home in London. The singer announced plans for an 11 date His On The Run tour.
“Playing live is one of the most exciting parts of my job,” the singer said in a statement announcing the tour. “My audiences seem to get better each year and the band and I love the buzz and feedback they give us.”
