Robin Gibb, a 61-years-old who is one of the two surviving Bee Gees, is suffering from liver cancer and rushed to the hospital several days ago via ambulance after his family called 999 (the British equivalent of 911) for treatment.

Robin’s mother, Barbara, 91-years-old, and elder brother Barry have flown over from Miami to be with him. A family friend told Mirror “Robin is not good and there is a lot of concern for him … . But Robin is a strong character, he is a fighter and has been encouraged by all the online messages from his fans. Dwina [his wife] is doing everything possible and hasn’t left his side”

“There will be difficult times ahead but Robin will never give up and his loving family will make sure he has everything he needs. There is frustration because Robin has always looked after himself. He doesn’t drink, eats well and exercises daily.”

“It is incredibly sad for Barbara. First she lost her son Andy, then Maurice and now she has to cope with seeing Robin like this.

“It is a lot for a mother, particular of her age, to deal with. Barry has also been there for his brother and a lot of friends have been rallying round.”

Maurice Gibb, the third member of Bee Gees, died at 53 in 2003 because of complication due to a twisted small intestine which was noted in his autopsy report as a congenital condition. Robin also had surgery for the same sort of blockage after suffering abdominal pain while performing in August 2010.

Gibbs’ youngest brother, Andy died aged 30 in 1988 following a battle against cocaine addiction.

Robin speaks of his twin brother’s death in 2003 as “something I haven’t accepted still. He was a relatively young man and he just went all of a sudden” to new show Living The Life.

Robin and Dwina have one son, Robin-John, 26, who lives at the family home. The star has two other children, Spencer, 38, and Melissa, 36, by first wife Molly Hullis. And also fathered a 3 years-old daughter with his live-in housekeeper Claire Yang.
